Our Charity Shop

We receive donations of clothing and household goods daily, from all over Johannesburg. Those items that cannot be used in Nazareth House are sent to the Charity shop for sale. While the income is greatly needed by Nazareth House, the availability of second hand clothing and goods is vital to the local community.

If you are moving house, or just cleaning out your cupboards or garage and have items you no longer need, keep us in mind.

Donations Account

In this house, the Sisters of Nazareth strive to uphold the Core Values of our foundress, Victoire Larmenier. This means caring for all the people around us, according to the spirit of the gospel of Christ.

We believe that, given a clean, comfortable and healthy environment, for body and spirit, people can endure the most extreme hardship. So we apply ourselves to this task: to be a channel of Christ’s mercy. We find the needy and we find the people who wish to help them, and they come together in Nazareth House.

There are many ways of giving. We ask that you give consideration to our needs.

If you would like to help us financially, there are three simple ways to do this:

  1. Make a payment into our donations account, any amount, anytime. Use your name as reference. We will then use the money wherever it is needed.
  2. Make a payment into the same account, and use your name and “clothing” or “School books” or “games” etc. (see our “Things we need” list) as a reference and we will use the money accordingly.
  3. Make a monthly payment into that account by stop-order or debit order and contact us to stipulate its use.

It costs Nazareth House ….

  • R30 000 ($4400, £2200, €3000) per year to provide all the needs of 1 Child...or,

                            R2500 ($360, £180, €250) per month… or

                                                R85 ($12, £6, €9) per day! …Excluding the cost of medication!

 

           Could you help for a day, a month, a year?

  • R250 000 per year to provide the transport for all the children, the aged, the patients from the clinic and       hospice and for the Sisters and staff to get where they have to go for the house.

      (A donation of R85 ($12, £6, €9) per month would cover the cost of one person’s transport.)

Donate Equipment

We are always looking for new equipment to replace the worn out or broken equipment in our kitchens, workrooms or playgrounds.

  1. Our Children’s Home is looking for a computer with Maths and Numeracy education software to assist the children.
  2. Our Children’s Social Worker requires a Filing Cabinet
